Brookfield, WI: Brookside Baptist Church is producing a two minute weekly video feature optimized for the upcoming Apple video iPod. Similar to podcasts, this "vodcast" will download automatically to iTunes (version 4.9) or higher. Subscribers can automatically download and copy the devotionals to their video iPod.

The vodcast, Brookside Reflections, consists of devotional messages on the Bible excerpted from sermons by Dr. Sam Horn, pastor of Brookside Baptist Church, as well as special events such as highlights from Vacation Bible School and other events at Brookside.

Pastor Horn sees this as an extension of the ministry of Brookside, which uses cell phones, podcasting, and Google Video. "I'm excited about the opportunity that we have to use this new technology. I hope that we can reach a wide variety of users, not just the tech crowd, but also the disabled and the shut-ins."

Former members as well as members who have been sick and missed a service have used the podcasts and vodcasts to keep in virtual contact. Randy Melchert, a member of Brookside Baptist Church and a senior theology student at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, enjoys the ability to continue to see the messages from his home church. "It's great to be able to stay in touch, and still watch the sermons, even though I am almost a thousand miles away. While I'm studying for the ministry, I can still learn from the ministry of my pastor at home."

iTunes users can easily subscribe to the latest Reflection. Internet users without a video iPod can watch the weekly Brookside Reflection on the internet at www.brooksidebaptist.org/reflections.
